If you received a favorable decision on your Social Security Disability claim…this means you won your case!
What’s next?
Social Security will be contacting you to verify a few pieces of information including your address and the bank information. You will then receive a “Notice of Award” in the mail. This notice will contain a lot of information you are probably wondering about. It will include:
- When your disability began (i.e. how far back you back pay goes). This is your disability onset.
- Your monthly benefit amount
- The date you can expect your first disability payment
- The total amount of benefits to be paid to you
- The amount of benefits withheld for direct payment of attorney’s fees.
You can usually expect your back pay and first monthly check to start 30-90 days after the award letter.
