Permanent Total Disability (PTD)
Because of the injury the employee is unable to ever return to a steady job which pays an appropriate wage. The employee must meet a certain level of PPD depending on their age and education. For example, if the employee is 50 years old on the date of injury, they must have at least a 15% permanent partial disability rating to be eligible to receive permanent total disability benefits. If the employee is less than 50 years old, the threshold PPD is 17%. The amount of the benefit is the same as TTD, i.e. two thirds of the average weekly wage on the date of injury. The minimum PTD rate is currently $526. The maximum is $750 per week.
